Maker of pool cues from 1994 to present in Santa Anna, California.

Ariel Carmeli made custom furniture before working at Best Billiards in Santa Anna, California. All of the employees there learn to do minor cue repairs as a service to their customers. Ariel enjoyed working on cues, and he admired the artistry and craftsmanship that went into them. Several of the top cuemakers visited Best Billiards, giving Ariel the opportunity to question them about repair and construction techniques. He found that all of the top cuemakers have different ways of doing things, each believing that theirs is the best. Ariel had his own ideas about making cues, a culmination of the advice he had received plus the experience he had doing repairs. He started making cues in the Best Billiards shop in 1994.

Ariel makes about 100 cues a year. Carmeli cues are made to specifications of the individual customer, with a variety of lengths, weights, butt diameters, woods, and joint types available. All components are threaded on and glued with an epoxy that is so strong it can be drilled and tapped without chipping. Ariel presses his own Triangle tips, and would like to use Moori tips if they again become readily available in the United States. He has developed his own unique taper which is almost straight for the first 9 inches. Early Carmeli cues were unmarked, but in 1997 Ariel started laser engraving an "AC" within a circle on the butt caps.

Carmeli cues are guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects that are not the result of warpage or abuse.
