Shurtz Custom Pool Cues

Maker of pool cues from 1983 to present in Wichita, Kansas.

Shurtz Custom Cues began in 1983 in Jack's garage located in Wichita, Kansas. Jack has been in the billiard business since 1968, traveling five states recovering pool tables and selling billiard supplies. He was also a partner in a retail outlet for pool tables and supplies. Jack learned his trade from the late Verl Horn in Mooreland, Oklahoma. In 1994, a partnership with Bob Owen of Wichita, Kansas was formed. This resulted in the need to move out of the garage. A larger building was found, and again outgrown in a few years. Now, Shurtz Custom Cues, Inc. is in a larger facility with room for pool tables in the front and the shop in the back.

Shurtz cues are made of the finest materials available. Shafts are cut and dried at intervals for six months before being put on a cue. Jack and Bob specialize in custom cues, made to the customer's specifications. Designs and inlay work are done in the shop using exotic woods, ivory, gems and metals. Macines include lathes and CNC. Shurtz has a professional paint room with the latest technology. Shurtz Custom Cues is a small shop which produced one-of-a-kind and limited production cues.

From 1983 to 1994, there were no identification marks on Shurtz cues. In 1995, all cues were engraved with the name SHURTZ just above the butt cap. By 1996, the name was moved into the butt cap and in 1997 the year was added, just under the name.

Shurtz cues are guaranteed for a lifetime against any defect or problem that arises due to the manufacturing. They are not responsible for any cue with abnormal exposure or use.
